Since our founding in 2015, we have been organically working towards a self-sustaining model. As a Ugandan organization, we never wanted to rely on foreign funding in the long term.
The way our model works puts the power in the hands of the single mothers and female entreprenuers from vulnerable communities. Many of them have never used money, so we coach them with business skills and financial literacy. Combining this education with small loans empowers the women to become the financial heads of their household and provide for their families.
Currently, we have around 450 women enrolled in the program. Our goal is to enroll 900. Every woman returns a nominal interest rate of 5% on her micro-loan, in order to cover the costs of the trainings and eventually create more loans for more women.
Once we reach our target of 900 women involved, we will have enough money circulating in loans that the interest won’t just cover the financial literacy program, it will also cover our school!
The Hope Center is a K-12 literacy, arts, and technology center which provides schooling to 80 local children who cannot afford to go to any other school.
We are excited and hopeful to get the organization to reach its self sustaining goal, which empowers both women and youth with the skills they need to lift themselves out of poverty.
Feel free to check out our pitch, give us feedback on it, or share it on. We know now is a great time of year for Corporate Social Responsibility budgets to find their final recipients, or for generous people to gift donations to loved ones who share their hope for a better world.
